Are you a member of CBM? |
|
When my middle son was old enough to go hunting, he came to me with his hunter's safety permit in hand and said, "I have heard all your stories about hunting, now show me!" Well, that fall we went hunting and got a nice little spike. I knew I had to find a way to teach him how to hunt, but I really did not know how. So I started to read book after book on how to hunt. In many of those books they told you to find the local and national record keeping groups and join them. They told you to them volunteer to help them with what ever they might need. So I did. The next thing I knew I was working with the people that had written the books. That was when I really learned how to hunt. Today I hunt with all four of my sons and treasure every minute of it.
There is another reason you should be a member. Oh, it is nice to work with some of the greatest hunters you have heard about, but there is more. CBM people take care of each other. They play together, they fish together, they hunt together, they work together and they help each other. Last week-end I took my new shadow hunter bind to my property in the U.P. The problem was, once I was there I could not find a way to get it where I wanted it. Jim Curtis, a CBM member in the U.P. went way out of his way to help me. He even went back and cut more shooting lanes for me after I left. This week he took a husband and wife team to a spot he had been baiting so they could hunt bear. Being a CBM member has many rewards. To me the biggest reward is the people and friendships with them.
